Structural Steel Scrap Buyer Singapore
Beams, plates, pipe & sections · HMS 1 from $390/tonne · 40-footer trailers for long stock
Molten Steel buys structural steel scrap in volume — I-beams, H-beams, channels, angles, hollow sections, steel plate, and steel pipe — from construction sites, steel traders, engineering firms, shipyards, and demolition contractors across Singapore. Ferrous is the core of what we process at our 170 Gul Circle yard, and long or heavy structural stock is exactly what our 40-footer and low-bed trailers are set up to receive.
Pricing is per tonne and depends on two things: thickness (which decides HMS 1 vs HMS 2) and preparation (whether the steel is cut to furnace-ready lengths). Send us photos, a rough tonnage, and your site location on WhatsApp and we will come back with a quote.

What We Buy
- Beams & columns — I-beams, H-beams, universal beams and columns from steel frames, platforms, and pipe racks
- Steel plate — mild steel plate offcuts, burnt plate skeletons, base plates, chequer plate, deck plate
- Steel pipe — carbon steel line pipe, casing, scaffolding tube, pipe-rack spools, piling offcuts
- Sections — channels, angles, flat bar, hollow sections (RHS / SHS / CHS)
- Sheet piles & temporary works steel — strutting, king posts, walers at end of use
- Fabricated structures — dismantled mezzanines, racking, steel staircases, platforms, tanks (gas-freed)
For stainless pipe and plate see our stainless steel scrap page; for alloy and duplex pipe see special alloys. Unused, mill-certified stock is usually worth more as surplus stock than as scrap.
HMS 1 vs HMS 2: How Thickness Sets Your Price
Steel mills pay more for thick, dense steel because it melts efficiently and carries less coating and contamination per tonne. That is why the 6mm line matters: beams with heavy flanges, thick plate, and heavy-wall pipe grade as HMS 1; light sections, sheet, and thin-wall pipe grade as HMS 2. Mixed loads are priced on what dominates the load, so separating thick from thin before collection usually lifts the average rate.
Prepared steel (PNS) earns the top ferrous rate because it is already cut to sizes a furnace can take. If your crew has cutting capacity on site, cutting long members down before collection can be worth it on large tonnages. If not, we take it uncut: that is what the 40-footer is for.
How to Get the Best Rate on Structural Steel
- Separate thick from thin. Keep heavy beams and plate apart from purlins, sheet, and light angle.
- Strip non-ferrous attachments. Copper cable, aluminium cladding, and stainless fittings are worth more sold separately.
- Remove non-metal contamination. Concrete, timber, rubber, and heavy paint build-up are deducted.
- Gas-free tanks and pipe. Anything that held fuel, oil, or chemicals must be cleaned and opened before collection.
- Send photos with a tonnage estimate. A few photos plus approximate quantity on WhatsApp is enough for an indicative quote.
How We Collect Beams, Plate and Pipe: Bins, 40-Footer, Low-Bed
Structural steel is long, heavy, and awkward, which is why most of it arrives at our yard on our own trailers rather than in a lorry. You (or your contractor) handle the dismantling and the lift; we bring the right receiving equipment for the load. See bins & trailer collection for how this works.
- Walk-ins accepted at our 170 Gul Circle yard during business hours (Mon–Sat 8:30am–6:30pm, Sun 8:30am–3:30pm).
- Free scrap bins on site for ongoing producers — we drop bins in common sizes and rotate them on a schedule you choose. Sorted bins earn a higher price per kg.
- 40-footer trailer for long stock — structural beams, profile material, bar, tube, and any item that exceeds standard truck-bed length.
- Low-bed trailer for oversized cargoes — large machinery, vessel internals, complete heat-exchanger bundles, generator sets, transformers, and decommissioned plant.
We lead with receiving infrastructure rather than on-site removal labour. That keeps our per-kilogram quotes ahead of dealers who bundle haulage labour into the price — you handle the lift (or your contractor does), and we handle everything from the weighbridge onward. For larger clearances where the job size justifies it, our own team can handle the removal too.
Who Sells Us Structural Steel
- Construction companies — temporary works steel, rebar offcuts, dismantled site structures (construction scrap)
- Steel trading companies — rejected, damaged, or slow-moving stock
- Engineering & fabrication firms — plate skeletons, beam drops, pipe offcuts (engineering scrap)
- Shipyards & marine companies — hull plate, structural steel from repair and conversion (marine scrap)
- Demolition contractors — steel frames and roof structures from strip-outs (demolition scrap)
- Process plants — pipe racks, platforms, and piping from shutdowns (process plant scrap)
Frequently Asked Questions
How much is scrap steel beam worth in Singapore?
Heavy structural beams typically grade as HMS 1, from around $390 per tonne. Beams cut to furnace-ready lengths can qualify as prepared steel (PNS) from around $430 per tonne. Rates follow the steel market and are for reference only; send photos and quantity for an actual quote.
What is the scrap price for steel plate and steel pipe?
Plate and pipe 6mm and thicker grade as HMS 1 (from around $390 per tonne); thinner plate and thin-wall pipe grade as HMS 2 (from around $380 per tonne). Stainless and alloy pipe are priced separately and much higher, so tell us the material when you enquire.
Do I need to cut beams before you collect them?
No. We send a 40-footer trailer for long members and a low-bed trailer for oversized pieces. Cutting to short lengths can earn the higher prepared-steel (PNS) rate on large tonnages, but it is optional.
Do you send workers to dismantle the steel?
We focus on receiving equipment (bins, trailers, lorry crane, and excavator with magnet or grappler for very large clearances) rather than on-site dismantling crews. Your team or your contractor handles dismantling; we handle collection and everything from the weighing onward.
Is pickup free?
Pickup is free for substantial industrial loads from construction sites, factories, warehouses, and engineering and process plants. Smaller quantities are welcome as drop-offs at our 170 Gul Circle yard during business hours.
Do you buy galvanized beams and gratings?
Yes. Galvanized steel is bought as a separate ferrous grade, from around $360 per tonne. Keep it apart from black steel if you can.
