How the Calculator Works

Our calculator uses Molten Steel’s current weekly buying rates — benchmarked daily against the London Metal Exchange (LME) and adjusted for local freight + processing costs. For each metal grade, we multiply weight × per-kg rate:

Payout estimate = weight (kg) × grade rate (SGD/kg)

For mixed loads, each row is calculated separately and summed. The result is indicative — the actual quote depends on on-site grading and that day’s LME rate. For a firm quote, call +65 9106 7577 or WhatsApp.

Why Your Final Payout Might Differ

• On-site grading — if cable comes in heavier than expected on copper content, or brass is redder (more copper), the grade adjusts up. If there’s contamination (paint, attachments, oil), grade adjusts down.
• LME movement — metals move daily. Our weekly rates reflect the previous week’s close; the firm quote uses today’s rate.
• Volume bonuses — loads over 1 tonne of a single grade often earn a volume premium not shown in the base rate.
• Not included in the calculator — catalytic converters (PGM-priced), motors/compressors (whole-unit value), and specialty alloys. See our catalytic converter page for those.

Calculator Tips

• Separate grades first. A 100kg bundle of mixed copper might be 60kg bright + 40kg cable — don’t enter it all as “braziery” (lowest rate). Sort before you weigh.
• Don’t guess grade. If unsure, we sort on arrival for free — enter a conservative grade in the calculator to get a lower-bound estimate.
• Add batteries + cats separately. These aren’t in the calculator; tell us when you call. Typical: car battery $15-30, cat $50-500+.
