Scrap Metal Trading in Singapore

We buy scrap across Singapore · We supply graded, XRF-verified feedstock to foundries, smelters and traders

Molten Steel runs both sides of the scrap metal trade from our 170 Gul Circle yard. On the buy side, we take scrap from factories, shipyards, contractors and collectors across Singapore. On the supply side, we sort that material into consistent, XRF-verified grades and sell it to foundries, re-melters, fabricators and traders in Singapore and around the region.

Supply Side: Graded Scrap for Foundries, Smelters & Traders

We hold a continuous inventory across the main non-ferrous grades, prepared to the buyer's melt requirements. Grades are never mixed within a bale, and every lot is tagged with lot number, grade and weight.

Packaging, Shipping & Documentation

  • Packaging: hydraulically pressed bales, 1-tonne FIBC bags, or loose in open-top containers
  • Local delivery: direct to your smelter or processing site
  • Export: FOB Singapore or CFR to regional ports; 20ft containers loaded and sealed in our yard
  • With every shipment: weighbridge ticket, bale-by-bale weight list, XRF or eddy-current purity report, and photos of bales and container loading
  • For export: packing list, commercial invoice and non-radioactive declaration
  • On request: analysis certificates or COA for critical alloy applications. Recovered material is not sold with mill test certificates.

How Trading Prices Are Set

  • Non-ferrous is priced off the London Metal Exchange cash settlement — we buy at LME less a processing margin and supply at LME with grade-specific premiums or discounts.
  • Ferrous tracks domestic HMS and regional indices.
  • Contract volumes — regular sellers and monthly offtake buyers can lock a published LME-linked formula instead of renegotiating every load.
  • Grade drives price — clean, sorted, XRF-verified material earns the best rate on both sides of the trade.

How to Buy Graded Scrap From Us

  1. Send your spec — metal, grade, form (bales, FIBC, loose), quantity and delivery point or destination port.
  2. Get an offer — priced against the same-day LME settlement for available lots, or as a monthly offtake formula.
  3. Review the lot — photos, weight list and XRF readings before loading; specific chemistry windows can be pre-sorted against your sample spec.
  4. Loading & documents — weighed, loaded and sealed in our yard, with the shipment documents listed above.
  5. Settlement — on the terms agreed for the contract.

Buy Side: Where Our Scrap Comes From

Sellers range from one-off clearances to large industrial accounts. The common thread is wanting a transparent price tied to published market benchmarks.

Industrial generators

Factories producing regular machining and stamping arisings — typically 2-20 tonnes monthly. Pricing usually negotiated on a contract basis with a published LME-linked formula. Most of our contract volume comes from Jurong and Tuas industrial estates.

Trade sellers and independent collectors

Independent karang guni, small-lorry collectors and end-of-life vehicle dealers bringing in aggregated loads — typically 500 kg to 3 tonnes per visit. Paid by PayNow on the ticket.

Renovators and building owners

One-off clearances of old gates, tanks, aircon units and stainless kitchen fit-outs — usually 100 kg to 1 tonne. Drop-off or single-lorry collection.

M&E and electrical contractors

Copper cable, busbar and aluminium conduit recovered from renovation and decommissioning projects. 200 kg to 5 tonnes per job. Grade mix (bright-stripped vs unstripped) materially affects the per-kilo price.

Shipyards and offshore operators

Dry-docking arisings — valves, heat exchangers, propellers, structural steel. Project-based, often 20-200 tonnes. Pricing locked for the campaign window where possible.

How We Receive Scrap — Bins, 40-Footer, Low-Bed

  • Walk-ins at our 170 Gul Circle yard — Monday to Saturday 8:30 AM–7:00 PM, Sunday 8:30 AM–5:30 PM.
  • Free scrap bins on site for ongoing producers — rotated on a schedule you choose. Sorted bins (ferrous separate from non-ferrous) earn a higher price per kg.
  • 40-footer trailer for long stock — structural beams, profile material, bar and tube.
  • Lorry crane for heavy or awkward pieces — machinery skids, tanks, gates, transformers.
  • Excavator with magnet or grappler for very large clearances — demolition sites, plant decommissions, structural strip-outs.
  • Low-bed trailer for oversized cargoes — large machinery, vessel internals, heat-exchanger bundles, generator sets.

We focus on receiving infrastructure rather than on-site removal crews. That keeps our per-kilogram quotes ahead of dealers who bundle haulage labour into the price — you handle the lift (or your contractor does), and we handle everything from the weighbridge onward.

Real Trading Examples

Examples below are genericised for confidentiality.

Sungei Kadut stainless fabricator, monthly uplift: ~1.2 tonnes of 304 stainless offcuts sold monthly against a contracted LME-linked formula. XRF-verified on each ticket; paid by PayNow within 24 hours of weighing.

East Coast homeowner, renovation clearance: 180 kg mixed ferrous (old gate, steel shelving) plus 28 kg of brass fittings and copper piping. Single lorry pickup; paid in cash on collection within the owner's receipt ceiling.

Tuas marine workshop, heat exchanger scrap: 2.1 tonnes of 90/10 cupronickel tubes from a refit. XRF confirmed the alloy spec, load priced against same-day LME copper and nickel cash settlements, PayNow the same afternoon.

Scrap Metal Trading FAQ

What is the minimum order for graded scrap?

Usually 5 tonnes per grade for local delivery and a full container for export (18–22 tonnes per 20ft container for copper, 20 tonnes for stainless). Recovered stainless pipe starts at 2 tonnes.

Do you export scrap metal?

Yes. We sell FOB Singapore or CFR to regional ports, loading and sealing 20ft containers in our yard, with a packing list, commercial invoice and non-radioactive declaration.

How do you guarantee grade?

Every lot is hand-sorted, XRF- or eddy-current-verified and baled by grade — grades are never mixed within a bale. A purity report and bale-by-bale weight list come with each shipment.

How are trading prices set?

Non-ferrous against the LME cash settlement, ferrous against domestic HMS and regional indices, adjusted for grade. Contract buyers and sellers can lock an LME-linked formula. Current buy rates are on our prices page.

What documents do I need to sell scrap to you?

Singapore NRIC or FIN for individuals; ACRA business registration for companies. For larger values we verify payee bank details.

How is payment released when I sell?

PayNow or bank transfer — typically the same day the ticket is closed, and always within 24 hours. Cash for smaller amounts; cheque on request.

Do you accept contaminated or painted scrap?

Surface paint and minor rust are fine. We cannot accept oil-soaked material, asbestos-containing items, pressurised containers or hazardous-waste-contaminated scrap.

Do you buy small quantities?

Yes — as drop-offs at our Gul Circle yard, where we unload and pay on arrival. Free pickup applies once a load meets our minimum quantity.
