Marine Scrap Metal Singapore

Marine Scrap Metal Singapore

Shipyard, ship-repair, marine equipment scrap · Bronze, brass, stainless 316, super-duplex, CuNi piping · Tuas & Jurong yard pickup

Molten Steel buys marine scrap metal from Singapore’s shipyards, ship-repair operators, marine equipment manufacturers, and offshore-services contractors. Typical loads come off drydock turnarounds, vessel deconstruction, equipment refits, and end-of-life vessel scrapping. We service the Tuas, Jurong, Pasir Panjang, and Loyang marine clusters with our own low-loader and crane truck, and pay top rates for the non-ferrous content that drives marine scrap value.

What We Buy From Marine Yards

  • Hull and structural plate — mild steel hull sections from vessel deconstruction, plate offcuts from new-build fab
  • Propellers — manganese bronze, nickel-aluminium bronze (NAB), brass, stainless 316/317, aluminium. See our scrap propeller page for the full price band.
  • Copper-nickel piping — CuNi 90/10 + 70/30 seawater piping, condenser tubing, heat-exchanger bundles. See our special alloys page for CuNi pricing.
  • Bronze fittings, bushings, valves — through-hulls, sea-chests, scuppers, propeller shaft bearings, seawater valve bodies
  • Stainless steel 316 — deck hardware, food-service galleys, ladders, railings, davits, RAS hardware
  • Super-duplex stainless (SAF 2507, Zeron 100) — offshore subsea hardware, FPSO process piping
  • Aluminium — superstructure plate (5083, 5086), accommodation block panels, lifeboat bodies
  • Anchor chain & mooring hardware — high-tensile carbon steel, often heavy ferrous lots
  • Engine room non-ferrous — copper cable harnesses, brass instrumentation, bronze gear-train components

How We Work With Shipyards & Repair Yards

  1. Drydock-cycle scheduling. We coordinate pickup windows with the yard’s drydock turnaround timeline so removed material moves out without holding up the next docking.
  2. Lift coordination. For main-engine props, anchor chain, large heat exchangers and oversized assemblies we deploy our low-bed trailer + crane support; for routine refit material we use 40-footers and bins.
  3. Alloy verification on dock. Handheld XRF on every non-ferrous lot before settlement — the reading determines the final rate. No dispute at payment time.
  4. Single-ticket consolidation. For multi-prop and mixed-alloy refit lots we issue one weighing ticket per pickup with the alloy breakdown attached.
  5. Same-day settlement on verified loads — bank transfer to the yard’s nominated account.

Drydock-Cycle Scrap Recovery

A vessel drydocking generates a predictable scrap stream: replaced anodes (zinc & aluminium), worn bushings and bearings (bronze), removed fasteners (stainless 316), cropped piping (CuNi seawater, ferrous engine-room), retired propellers (NAB or manganese bronze), and selectively replaced hull plate. The economic value of this stream is concentrated in the non-ferrous fraction — CuNi piping, bronze props, super-duplex hardware — which can run several thousand dollars per drydock for a mid-size workboat and tens of thousands for a merchant vessel.

We coordinate around the drydock schedule: pre-docking call to confirm what’s coming off, dedicated bins set down before the yard team starts removal work, scheduled pickup as the next vessel goes in. For yards running back-to-back drydocks this means the scrap programme never bottlenecks the docking schedule.

Vessel Deconstruction & End-of-Life Scrapping

For complete vessel scrapping or major deconstruction projects we work alongside the BCA-licensed cutting contractor on metal recovery scoping. Typical workflow: contractor handles the cutting and lift; Molten Steel handles the metal stream from the dock to the smelter. We can stage 40-footers for hull plate accumulation and bring our low-bed for engine-room machinery. Settlement is per-load against alloy verification, with the contractor getting one consolidated statement at end-of-project.

Marine Locations — Where We Pick Up

Tuas shipyard cluster (Sembcorp Marine Tuas, Pacific International, ASL Marine, Western Marine), Jurong Marine Base, Pasir Panjang & Keppel waterfront, Loyang Offshore Supply Base for offshore-services contractors, Sungei Kadut for smaller barge-and-workboat yards. Free pickup for non-ferrous lots over 50 kg; ferrous loads picked up against tonnage minimums.

How We Receive Marine Loads — Bins, 40-Footer, Low-Bed

Marine loads run the full size range — a single bronze through-hull off a yacht refit at one end, a 5-tonne main-engine propeller or a complete heat-exchanger bundle at the other. Receiving infrastructure scales with the load; we coordinate lift and transport directly with the yard.

  • Walk-ins accepted at our 170 Gul Circle yard during business hours (Mon–Sat 8:30am–6:30pm, Sun 8:30am–3:30pm).
  • Free scrap bins on site for ongoing producers — we drop bins in common sizes and rotate them on a schedule you choose. Sorted bins earn a higher price per kg.
  • 40-footer trailer for long stock — structural beams, profile material, bar, tube, and any item that exceeds standard truck-bed length.
  • Low-bed trailer for oversized cargoes — large machinery, vessel internals, complete heat-exchanger bundles, generator sets, transformers, and decommissioned plant.

We focus on receiving infrastructure rather than on-site removal crews. That keeps our per-kilogram quotes ahead of dealers who bundle haulage labour into the price — you handle the lift (or your contractor does), and we handle everything from the weighbridge onward.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you collect marine scrap directly from shipyards?

Yes — we run dedicated routes through the Tuas, Jurong, Pasir Panjang, and Loyang marine clusters with our own low-loader and crane truck. Free pickup for non-ferrous lots over 50 kg; ferrous picked up against tonnage minimums. Drydock-aligned scheduling for repair yards.

What’s the price for copper-nickel seawater piping?

CuNi pipe is priced individually on photos + qty — rates depend on grade (90/10 vs 70/30), wall thickness, condition, and current LME-plus-premium benchmarks. Send photos to +65 9106 7577 via WhatsApp. See our special alloys page for the full pricing approach.

Do you handle full vessel scrapping?

We handle the metal-recovery side — we work alongside the BCA-licensed cutting contractor who handles the cutting and lift. Settlement is per-load against alloy verification. For shipyards or contractors planning deconstruction, call us early so we can scope hull-plate staging and engine-room non-ferrous recovery.

How is propeller alloy verified?

Handheld XRF spectrometer at the point of settlement. The reading is shown to the seller and the rate follows the verified alloy — manganese bronze, NAB, aluminium bronze, brass, or stainless. Stamped grade codes near the hub help quote-on-photos accuracy. See our propeller page.

Do you accept anchor chain and mooring hardware?

Yes — high-tensile carbon steel anchor chain, mooring hardware, towing hardware. Priced as ferrous (HMS 1 thickness band) for typical anchor-chain link weight. We can pick up directly from the yard with our 40-footer.

Is Molten Steel licensed to buy marine scrap in Singapore?

Yes — we are an NEA-approved scrap metal dealer. Our licence covers marine scrap acquisition. See our licensing page.
