Car Scrap Yard Singapore — Metal Buyer
Where car dismantlers and workshops offload the metal — per-kg cash, weighbridge on site
What Molten Steel actually buys
We buy scrap metal — not whole vehicles. Molten Steel is a licensed scrap metal dealer, not an LTA-appointed scrap car dealer. We do not deregister cars and we do not handle COE rebates. Our customers are scrap car dealers, yards, mechanics and workshops who already strip vehicles down to recoverable metal.
We buy
- Stripped car bodies (metal shell only)
- Catalytic converters
- Engine blocks, gearboxes, drivetrain
- Copper wiring harnesses
- Aluminium rims, brass fittings
- Loose ferrous + non-ferrous parts
Strip and remove first
- Tyres
- Seat cushions and foam
- Wool, fabric, carpet
- Steering wheel (plastic + airbag)
- Windscreen and side glass
- Plastic trim, dashboard
Are you a car owner trying to deregister an end-of-life vehicle? Use an LTA-appointed scrap car dealer first. Once they strip the vehicle to metal, Molten Steel buys that metal at LME-benchmarked per-kg rates.
A metal yard, not a vehicle deregistration service
There is a specific division of labour in Singapore's vehicle recycling chain. LTA-appointed scrap car dealers deregister cars and process the COE rebate. Dismantlers and workshops pull re-saleable parts and strip the rest. And scrap metal yards like Molten Steel buy the recovered metal — stripped body shells, catalytic converters, copper, aluminium, lead and brass — and feed it into the steel mill, refiner and smelter chain.
Our 170 Gul Circle yard is the metal-buying end of that chain. We do not deregister cars and we do not buy whole running vehicles. What we do is grade and price the metal that comes out of vehicles already stripped by an LTA-appointed dealer or dismantler.
What our yard accepts
- Stripped car body shells (predominantly metal — see scope box above for what must be removed first)
- Catalytic converters — OEM and aftermarket, walk-in or workshop-volume
- Copper wiring harnesses — full looms or stripped wire
- Aluminium engine blocks, transmission cases, alloy rims
- Lead-acid starter batteries
- Brass fittings, valves, small fasteners
- Steel exhaust sections, drivetrain, suspension components
- Mixed non-ferrous lots from a workshop clear-out
What we do not handle
- Whole running cars — LTA-appointed scrap car dealers handle these
- LTA deregistration paperwork — we are not an appointed dealer
- COE or PARF rebate processing — LTA pays this directly to the registered owner
- Tyres — separate tyre recyclers handle rubber waste
- Glass, plastic, fabric, foam — not metal, no recovery value
- Active airbags or seatbelt pretensioners — restricted hazardous items

Frequently asked questions
Do I have to bring the car body to your yard?
Yes for smaller lots. For tipper or container loads we arrange collection at cost. We do not run a free island-wide tow service for whole cars — that is what LTA-appointed scrap car dealers do.
Will your yard accept a car that I have not deregistered?
No. We do not buy whole vehicles in any condition. The car must be deregistered with LTA first (handled by an LTA-appointed dealer), then stripped down to recoverable metal, before we will price the load.
How is the metal payout calculated at the yard?
Per-kg by material category. Ferrous shell at HMS rates, copper at copper-grade, aluminium at aluminium rates, lead-acid batteries at lead rates, plus per-unit pricing on catalytic converters.
Can the yard deregister the car for me?
No. We are not an LTA-appointed scrap car dealer. Use the LTA list of appointed scrap car dealers for deregistration, then bring the recovered metal to us.
Do you weigh in front of the seller?
Yes. Weighbridge is on site at 170 Gul Circle and you see the reading. Grading is also done in front of you so the per-kg category split is clear.
Can a workshop set up a standing trade account?
Yes. Workshops with regular weekly or fortnightly volume on cats, copper harness, or alloy rims can move to a standing rate and consolidated payment cycle.
