Scrap car metal buyer Singapore — Molten Steel

Scrap Car Metal Buyer Singapore

Per-kg cash for stripped car bodies, catalytic converters and parts — for scrap dealers, yards, mechanics and workshops

What Molten Steel actually buys

We buy scrap metal — not whole vehicles. Molten Steel is a licensed scrap metal dealer, not an LTA-appointed scrap car dealer. We do not deregister cars and we do not handle COE rebates. Our customers are scrap car dealers, yards, mechanics and workshops who already strip vehicles down to recoverable metal.

We buy

  • Stripped car bodies (metal shell only)
  • Catalytic converters
  • Engine blocks, gearboxes, drivetrain
  • Copper wiring harnesses
  • Aluminium rims, brass fittings
  • Loose ferrous + non-ferrous parts

Strip and remove first

  • Tyres
  • Seat cushions and foam
  • Wool, fabric, carpet
  • Steering wheel (plastic + airbag)
  • Windscreen and side glass
  • Plastic trim, dashboard

Are you a car owner trying to deregister an end-of-life vehicle? Use an LTA-appointed scrap car dealer first. Once they strip the vehicle to metal, Molten Steel buys that metal at LME-benchmarked per-kg rates.

The metal stream behind Singapore's scrap car industry

Once an LTA-appointed scrap car dealer has deregistered a vehicle and stripped it down, the recovered metal has to go somewhere. Molten Steel is one of the licensed scrap metal yards in Singapore that buys that metal — baled or loose body shells, catalytic converters, copper wiring harnesses, aluminium engine castings, brass fittings and lead-acid batteries. We weigh, grade and pay per-kg at LME-benchmarked rates.

We work with scrap car dealers, dismantling yards, independent workshops, mobile mechanics and used-parts traders who need a reliable downstream buyer for the metal they pull from end-of-life vehicles. We do not buy whole running cars and we do not deal directly with car owners on deregistration.

How a typical workflow runs

  1. You strip the vehicle — tyres, glass, cushions, plastic trim, steering wheel and other non-metal items removed. Catalytic converters and copper harnesses can stay on or come off separately.
  2. Send photos and a rough weight estimate via WhatsApp, plus what categories of metal you have (ferrous shell, copper, aluminium, batteries, cats).
  3. We quote per-kg by category against today's LME-linked rates — HMS for shells, copper-grade for harness, aluminium for castings, lead for batteries, PGM-based pricing for catalytic converters.
  4. Drop off at 170 Gul Circle, or arrange a pickup if the lot justifies it.
  5. On-site weigh and grade — you see the scale, you see the grading.
  6. Same-day payment — cash for smaller lots, PayNow or bank transfer for larger or contracted accounts.

Who we work with

  • LTA-appointed scrap car dealers — the licensed dealers who actually deregister cars in Singapore. We are the downstream buyer for the metal they recover, including the catalytic converter stream where they don't process PGMs in-house.
  • Independent dismantling yards — pulling re-saleable parts first, then offloading the metal shell and non-ferrous remainder.
  • Workshops and garages — accumulating cats from exhaust replacements, copper from accident repairs, alloy rims from bent-wheel jobs.
  • Mobile mechanics and tow operators — smaller volumes, drop-off at our Gul Circle yard.
  • Used-parts traders — clearing stock that has aged out of the parts market.

Why dealers and workshops route metal to us

  • One yard, all categories — ferrous, non-ferrous, lead and PGM all priced and paid in one transaction. No need to drive shells one place and harness the other.
  • Transparent per-kg pricing — LME-linked, published on each material page, updated as markets move. No bait-and-switch on quote vs settlement.
  • Same-day payment — cash for walk-ins under S$2,000, PayNow or bank transfer above. No ‘will settle next week’ for trade accounts.
  • Contract rates for regular volumes — if you offload weekly or fortnightly we move you to a standing rate with consolidated payment.
  • NEA-compliant documentation — particularly for catalytic converters, where provenance paperwork protects both sides.
  • 170 Gul Circle yard — large enough to take a tipper's worth in one drop, with weighbridge on site.

If you're a private car owner reading this

You are in the right industry but the wrong stop. Molten Steel does not deregister cars, does not arrange COE rebate, and does not buy a running vehicle from you. The first step in scrapping a private car in Singapore is an LTA-appointed scrap car dealer — they handle deregistration, the disposal authorisation, and the COE rebate paperwork.

Once your dealer has done that, the metal from your car comes to a yard like ours. We've put together a longer breakdown on the where to scrap your car page that walks through the realistic options.

Frequently asked questions

Do you buy whole cars?

No. Molten Steel buys scrap metal recovered from cars — stripped shells, catalytic converters, copper harness, aluminium castings, lead-acid batteries. We do not buy a running, registered vehicle.

Do you deregister cars or handle COE rebates?

No. We are not an LTA-appointed scrap car dealer. Deregistration and COE rebate sit with LTA-appointed dealers; we are the downstream metal buyer.

What needs to be removed before you accept the body?

Tyres, seat cushions, fabric and wool, steering wheel and airbag assembly, windscreen and side glass, plastic trim and dashboard. The shell that arrives should be predominantly metal.

Do you buy catalytic converters?

Yes — this is one of our core lines. See our catalytic converter scrap page for OEM vs aftermarket pricing.

How are loads priced?

Per-kg by material category. Ferrous shell at HMS rates, copper harness at copper-grade, aluminium castings at aluminium rates, lead-acid batteries at lead rates, catalytic converters by PGM content.

Can I get a contract rate for regular volume?

Yes. Dealers and workshops who offload weekly or fortnightly can move to a standing rate with consolidated payment. Talk to us about volume.

Do you collect, or is it drop-off only?

Both. Smaller lots are simplest as a drop-off at 170 Gul Circle. For larger loads (a tipper or container's worth) we arrange collection.

Where exactly is your yard?

170 Gul Circle Singapore 629624, in the Tuas / Jurong industrial area. Open Mon–Sat 8:30am–6:30pm, Sun 8:30am–3:30pm.
