Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get a quote?

Call (+65) 9106 7577, WhatsApp us, or email contact@moltensteel.com.sg. Describe rough quantity and type — we’ll give you an indicative per-kg rate. Firm quote on weigh-in.

Where’s your yard?

170 Gul Circle, Singapore 629615. Open Monday–Saturday, 8am–6pm. Drop off or call for pickup.

Do you pay in cash?

Yes — cash, PayNow, or bank transfer. Whatever works for you. On-the-spot payment for most loads.

Is there paperwork?

For individual sales, minimal — just an ID check for compliance. For business clients, we can issue proper tax invoices and handle GST.

Selling specialty grades? We also buy special-alloy scrap — INCOLOY 625/718/825/925, copper-nickel, duplex and super-duplex stainless. Photos and estimated quantity for a firm quote.

How We Receive Your Scrap — Bins, 40-Footer, Low-Bed

Most loads arrive at our 170 Gul Circle yard by direct delivery. For larger producers and ongoing generators across Singapore we provide receiving infrastructure on site, so the sale fits around your operation rather than the other way around.

  • Walk-ins accepted at our 170 Gul Circle yard during business hours (Mon–Sat 8:30am–6:30pm, Sun 8:30am–3:30pm).
  • Free scrap bins on site for ongoing producers — we drop bins in common sizes and rotate them on a schedule you choose. Sorted bins (ferrous separate from non-ferrous) earn a higher price per kg.
  • 40-footer trailer for long stock — structural beams, profile material, bar, tube, and any item that exceeds standard truck-bed length.
  • Lorry crane for heavy or awkward pieces — machinery skids, tanks, gates, transformers, and items that need lift assistance during loading.
  • Excavator with magnet or grappler attachments for very large on-site clearances — we dispatch our excavator when the metal volume justifies it (demolition sites, plant decommissions, structural strip-outs). For everything else, suppliers deliver to our yard for the best per-kilo rate.
  • Low-bed trailer for oversized cargoes — large machinery, vessel internals, complete heat-exchanger bundles, generator sets, transformers, and decommissioned plant.

We focus on receiving infrastructure rather than on-site removal crews. That keeps our per-kilogram quotes ahead of dealers who bundle haulage labour into the price — you handle the lift (or your contractor does), and we handle everything from the weighbridge onward.

Running a fab shop, machine shop, or structural fabrication business? See our engineering & metal-fabrication scrap page for skip rotation, sorted-stream pricing, and trade-account invoicing.

Project leftovers / unused stock to clear? See our surplus metal stock buyer page — we pay above scrap rate for verified-paperwork lots.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get the best scrap metal price in Singapore?

Clean, sorted scrap earns the highest rates. Separating metals by grade before pickup (e.g., copper wire vs mixed cable) can increase your payout by 20-40%. Larger volumes also unlock better per-kg rates.

How fast is payment?

Same-day. We weigh, grade, and pay on the spot — bank transfer, cheque, or cash for smaller amounts. No invoicing delays, no waiting for month-end runs.

Do you buy small quantities?

Yes. Smaller or residential quantities are welcome as drop-offs at our 170 Gul Circle yard during business hours — we handle unloading and payment on arrival. Free pickup is sized for substantial industrial loads (factories, construction sites, warehouses, engineering and process plants).

What areas in Singapore do you cover?

All of Singapore. Main service zones are Jurong, Tuas, Sungei Kadut, Woodlands, Changi, Tampines, and central districts — but any postal code works.

Our Sell-Scrap Process Step-by-Step

Selling scrap metal to Molten Steel is a transparent, seven-step transaction. Every step is documented so both sides can reconcile weight, grade, and price on the same ticket.

  1. Pre-call price check — Use our scrap metal calculator or the live price sheet for an indicative SGD/kg before you call. Prices move with the London Metal Exchange daily.
  2. Prepare your material — Where practical, separate ferrous from non-ferrous (guide), keep copper clean, remove obvious contaminants. Pre-sorted loads attract the best per-kilo rates.
  3. Choose drop-off or pickup — Drop-off at our Tuas yard is fastest and avoids transport deductions. For larger loads or if you don’t have transport, book a scheduled collection.
  4. Intake & weighbridge — Material weighed on a Weights & Measures-verified weighbridge. Ticket printed with gross, tare, and net weight. ID verification as required under NEA and AML rules for payment above cash limits.
  5. Grading & XRF inspection — Ferrous grades visually classified (HMS 1&2, heavy melt, light iron, turnings). Non-ferrous verified by XRF analyser — especially important for distinguishing copper grades, brass, and stainless grades (304 vs 316).
  6. Firm quote — Line-item quote by grade, priced against the same-day benchmark. Signed or WhatsApp-confirmed before payment is released.
  7. Payment — PayNow or bank transfer within 24 hours (usually the same day). Cash up to statutory limits; cheque on request. Account customers receive monthly statements.

Who Sells Scrap Metal to Us

Sellers range from one-off residential clearances to large industrial accounts. The common thread is wanting a transparent price tied to published market benchmarks.

Industrial generators

Factories producing regular machining and stamping arisings — typically 2-20 tonnes monthly. Pricing usually negotiated on a contract basis with a published LME-linked formula. Most of our contract volume comes from Jurong and Tuas industrial estates.

Trade sellers and independent collectors

Independent karang guni, small-lorry collectors, and end-of-life vehicle dealers bringing in aggregated loads — typically 500 kg to 3 tonnes per visit. Paid by PayNow on the ticket.

Renovators and building owners

One-off clearances of old gates, tanks, aircon units, stainless kitchen fit-outs — usually 100 kg to 1 tonne. Drop-off or single-lorry collection.

M&E and electrical contractors

Copper cable, busbar, and aluminium conduit recovered from renovation and decommissioning projects. 200 kg to 5 tonnes per job. Grade mix (bright-stripped vs unstripped) materially affects the per-kilo price.

Shipyards and offshore operators

Dry-docking arisings — valves, heat exchangers, propellers, structural steel. Project-based, often 20-200 tonnes. Pricing locked for the campaign window where possible.

Real Seller Examples

Examples below are genericised for confidentiality.

Sungei Kadut stainless fabricator, monthly uplift: ~1.2 tonnes of 304 stainless offcuts sold monthly against a contracted LME-linked formula. XRF-verified on each ticket; paid by PayNow within 24 hours of weighing.

East Coast homeowner, renovation clearance: 180 kg mixed ferrous (old gate, steel shelving) plus 28 kg of brass fittings and copper piping. Single lorry pickup; paid in cash on collection within the owner’s receipt ceiling.

Tuas marine workshop, heat exchanger scrap: 2.1 tonnes of 90/10 cupronickel tubes from a refit. XRF confirmed the alloy spec, load priced against same-day LME copper and nickel cash settlements, PayNow the same afternoon.

Selling Scrap Metal FAQ

How are scrap metal prices set in Singapore?

Non-ferrous grades track the London Metal Exchange cash settlement less a processing margin. Ferrous scrap tracks domestic HMS and regional indices. Rates change daily — see our current price page.

What documents do I need to sell scrap?

Singapore NRIC or FIN for individuals; business registration for companies. For larger values we verify payee bank details. For vehicle-related scrap (e.g., ELV) we require the LTA deregistration paperwork.

Can I get a quote before bringing the material?

Yes. Share a photo and rough weight over WhatsApp or use our calculator for a self-serve estimate. Firm price is always confirmed after weighing and XRF grading at the yard.

How is my payment released?

PayNow or bank transfer — typically same day after the ticket is closed, and always within 24 hours. Cash is available up to statutory limits; cheque on request.

What metals fetch the best prices?

Copper (especially bright-stripped cable), brass, aluminium, and high-nickel stainless (316) are the highest per-kilo. See dedicated pages for copper, brass, aluminium, and stainless.

Do you accept contaminated or painted scrap?

Surface paint and minor rust are fine. We cannot accept oil-soaked material, asbestos-containing items, pressurised containers, or hazardous-waste-contaminated scrap — these require specialist disposal under NEA rules.
